We Will Studios is a film production company stationed in Dallas, Texas that strives to entertain people with amazing, original work, as well as helping creatives, visionaries, and businesses bring ideas to life. With everything we do, we hope to inspire anyone with a dream or passion to go after it and make it happen!
MISSION STATEMENT:
To be a company that inspires people to go after their passions and gain the belief in themselves to confidently say “I will” towards making them happen.
"The reason why “We Will” is in the name of our company is because I’ve noticed that when people talk about their dreams, passions, or anything big they aspire to do, they always say that they “want” to do something rather than saying they “will” do something. It’s something that I’ve noticed some people have a hard time saying because when you ask them why it’s because of the fear that they won’t do the thing they say they will do. Another thing that plays into that is the fear of embarrassment and judgment that can come from people when you don’t do the things you speak about. Before We Will Studios was even an idea, I also had this fear inside me. Saying “I want” is like putting out a safety net just in case things don’t work out while “I will” is having the confidence and belief that you will make it happen. “We Will” is in the name because we want to help current and aspiring creatives and visionaries get rid of that fear and come to the realization that they have what it takes within them, they just need to believe in themselves and what they’re going after. And since this journey isn’t something that you do solely by yourself, the “We” is in the name so that you know that you’re not in this alone. It’s something that we all will do together."
My name is Lance Williams and I am the founder and owner of We Will Studios.
Creating and building a film production company was something that I never thought I would do. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve always loved film but I was more so focused on other aspects of it throughout my life. As a kid it was acting, then in high school, it was writing and acting. I wanted those things so bad but when it came time to go to college and choose a major, I was afraid to pursue it.
As an aspiring black filmmaker who just graduated high school, I knew that the film industry was something that was really hard to get into. Especially when you don’t see a lot of black filmmakers in the film industry already so all I could think about was “what if I fail” or “what if I don’t make it”. When I went to college I had decided to major in Computer Science as a “safety net” for myself just in case the film stuff didn’t work. I thought I could just write and do film stuff whenever I didn’t have any Comp. Sci stuff going on, but that didn’t go as planned AT ALL. I went through great struggles in class and within myself, because I had gone down a path I know I didn't want. After some time, I learned the importance of believing in myself in everything that I do. This lesson was the heart of We Will Studios and I didn't even know it yet.
This lesson led me to become a business marketing major, which then led me to have more time to learn and make films. I made my first short film called “L.A.W’ and after that, I met other people who loved film, which led to me creating an award-winning short film called “Whodunnit”. My business classes taught me about the importance of black businesses as well as entrepreneurship and the many ways they can bring up the black community. Immediately I was hit with the idea of creating a film production company and after I graduated (Morehouse College - Class of 2021), I started bringing it to life.
I made this company with the purpose to amaze people with the amazing films we make and most of all inspire creatives to believe in themselves to go after the things that they have a passion for because sometimes in life that can be difficult. Especially when it's something that SEEMS impossible.
I wanted to build this company in Dallas, Texas because of the fact that there is so much talent that lives here. I see it every time I meet people and I see the major potential that this city has to become a hotspot for creatives to create and grow together. One of my biggest goals with this company is to make Dallas a filmmaking hotspot similar to Atlanta and Los Angeles so that more opportunities will be open for those who have a dream to be a part of the film industry and also help bring more black creatives into the industry as well.
We Will Studios is truly something special and I can’t wait for you all to see that.
Keep Creating and Believe in Yourselves always.
